Often you forget the fact that knees are very useful and important to your mobility. It is only after you become the victim of the excruciating pain that you realize how important your knees are.

Knee pains do not arise out of the blue without any reasons. There are a number of things that could be causing the knee pain. Among the many reasons are arthritis, overused injuries, Bursitis, Chondromalacia Patellae, Synovitis, etc. In this article, these causes are discussed briefly for your knowledge.

There are two types of knee Arthritis namely, the degenerative arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The degenerative arthritis is also called Osteoarthritis. It is caused by the breakdown and eventually the loss of the cartilage of either one or more joints. Apart from the knees, it can also impact your hands, feet, spine, and other large weight-bearing joints. On the other hand, the rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. The reason for this is the chronic inflammation of the joints. It so happens that in this condition, the antibodies in the blood starts to target its own body tissues.

Bursitis is another reason for knee pain. It is the inflammation of a bursa, which is a tiny fluid-filled sac. It performs by serving as a gliding surface to reduce friction between tissues of the body. Synovitis is also an inflammation, but it is of a synovial (joint-lining) membrane. It is very hurtful especially when you move. It is also accompanied by swelling.

Another reason for knee pains is the overuse of the knee injuries, which is mostly caused by the increased intensity or duration of an activity. Also included are knee tendonitis, knee bursitis, iliotibial band syndrome, and muscle strains. It is overuse that sometimes leads to runner's knee. Chronic knee pain is mostly generally caused by Chondromalacia Patellae. This condition is caused by softening of the cartilage underneath the knee cap. This leads to breakdown in small areas as well as pain. The knee caps rub against the thigh bones rather than gliding smoothly when the knee moves.

These issues can be dealt with and the pain can be reduced by the proper use of knee support braces. It can lead to reduced friction as well as pressure on the knee joint. Hence, it keeps the above mentioned conditions from developing or from aggravating. It also aids in maintaining the alignment of the knee, reducing pressure on the knee joint.

Keep in mind that the above information is only meant for increasing your knowledge and awareness. You should always consult your doctor for your particular condition.
